Angel

I saw this angel standing beside the entrance of the building of the Matrimonial Tribunal of the Catholic Church.  One of his hands was holding a basket that seemed to be full of round things. The other was holding a string  with a fish hanging from it.

It wasn't exceptionally beautiful but this was the first time I've seen a statue of an angel with a fish and a basket.    I could not keep my eyes off it.  It aroused my curiosity and interest.

I wondered:

Why was it holding a fish?

What was inside the basket?

What was the message of the sculptor?

Was this connected to the phrase "fishers of men?"

Anyone care to interpret this work of art?
